Casa del Mago

Designed as a single-story Airbnb, the project sits in the heart of Merida, near Paseo de Montejo. Its name comes from a former owner, the illusionist known as Mago Shadak. The proposal preserves the essence of the original house and keeps elements such as the arches and the floors, which hold the memory of the place. On that foundation, the project offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the space, where the architecture converses with the history of the house and allows its past to remain present in everyday life.

As a nod to magic, the interior stays serene and dimly lit, and the light grows as you approach the courtyard until it reaches the grand finale: a patio for contemplation, cool air and warmth, where the bells of the church in the old Santa Ana neighborhood are a reminder that there is always room to live in peace and quiet.
