35 Casa Monica

Location: Col. García Gineres, Mérida, Yucatán.
Year: 2024
Status: Proposed
Land: 252 m2
Built area: 150 m2

Developed as a proposal for a lot in the García Ginerés neighborhood, this home seeks to reinterpret the way urban lots are lived in through architecture that prioritizes privacy and connection to open spaces. Despite the size of the lot, the project creates a sense of spaciousness by incorporating interior courtyards that organize the layout and allow light and greenery to permeate every room. The home is organized around a central courtyard with a pool, making it the heart of the project and the main link between the social and private areas. Large windows promote visual continuity between the interior and exterior, while the vegetation adds comfort and transforms the spaces into cooler, more welcoming environments. The design employs understated materials, with light tones, natural stone, and wood lending warmth and character.
