Hotel 62 is located in the Historic Center of Mérida, Yucatán, within an urban setting characterized by its colonial architecture and cultural richness. The project seeks to reinterpret the city’s traditional essence through a contemporary luxury concept, where regional architectural elements coexist with modern, comfortable spaces rich in character.
The hotel comprises a ground floor and three upper levels, blending into the historic surroundings through a design that incorporates characteristic elements of Yucatecan architecture, such as arches, interior courtyards, and the constant interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The architectural design focuses on creating warm, timeless environments using regional materials such as chukum, handcrafted ceramic mosaics, and wrought ironwork, which add texture, character, and a connection to local tradition. Large windows allow an abundance of natural light to flood in, creating a visual transition between the interior spaces and the lush courtyards.
The hotel’s design aims to offer an experience where Mérida’s history meets a contemporary vision of living. Through terraces, social areas, and open spaces, an atmosphere of tranquility and exclusivity is created, where architecture, nature, and local materials form an essential part of the guest experience.
